Ingredients For cincinnati chili

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 15 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1 c
    beef broth
  • 1 c
    finely chopped white onion, divided
  • 1/4 c
    tomato paste
  • 4 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 1 Tbsp
    each chipotle chili powder, paprika, and red wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    cumin
  • 1/2 tsp
    allspice
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    oregano
  • 1/4 tsp
    cloves
  • 1 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1 can
    kidney beans, drained (15 oz)
  • 1 lb
    spaghetti
  • 8 oz
    shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • sour cream

How To Make cincinnati chili

    In a Dutch oven, add the ground beef and 2 1/2 cups water. Bring to a boil.

    Add the tomato sauce, broth, 1/2 cup white onion, garlic, bay leaf, chili powder, paprika, vinegar, salt, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, allspice, cinnamon, oregano, and cloves. Stir to combine and bring to a boil.

    Reduce to a simmer and simmer 1 hour. Add the cocoa powder and beans and simmer another hour.

    Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in boiling salted water. Drain.

    Plate the spaghetti. Then top with the meat sauce. Top with the remaining white onions, cheese and sour cream.
