1Heat oil – brown meat until gray (not brown) – add water and simmer for 1½ hours – stir occasionally.
(If you use hamburger, it needs to simmer about 30 minutes)
2Add all other ingredients and simmer 1 hour – stir occasionally.
Skim off as much fat as you can and discard
3 Tlb Flour
6 Tlb Cornmeal
Mix together flour and cornmeal with enough cold water to make slurry (about ¾ Cup water more or less)
Pour into chili mix and stir until thickened – simmer 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes so thickening won’t stick to bottom of pan.
