I have been looking for a great chili recipe that I could make from scratch. This one fits the bill. I think the addition of the red and green bell peppers is what makes this chili. Don't skimp on the red bell pepper, even though it can be a little pricier than green bell peppers. I think this chili gets better the longer you have it. However, it probably won't last long at your house, it is so good! Enjoy!

7 oz. mild green chilies, undrained

How to Make Chili

  1. Cook ground beef (I used lean ground round) or turkey with onions, green and red bell peppers and garlic until meat is no longer pink. Drain.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and let simmer about an hour, stirring occasionally. May need to add water and salt/pepper as chili cooks, depending on how thick you like your chili.
  3. Can be served with shredded cheese of your choice on top and crackers or cornbread.
