Ingredients
- 2 pounds chili meat
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 - garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- - "just a pinch" of salt
- - "just a pinch" of pepper
- 3 cups tomatoes, canned with juice
- 1 cup water
How To Make basic chili

Step 1In a large pot, saute meat, onion and garlic in oil over medium heat until browned.

Step 2Stir in cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper.

Step 3Add tomatoes, breaking them up into small pieces as you add them.

Step 4Add water and mix well.

Step 5Simmer over low heat, uncovered, for 1-2 hours.

Step 6Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and add more water if necessary.
