almost homemade chili

I made this for my "adopted" 92 year old senior. She loved it so much, she bought the ingredients and asked me to make her a batch so she can keep it in her freezer. It's a recipe I created from viewing other "chili" recipes and taking ingredients and putting my own twist on it. I'm not a great chili lover, but this is one I can enjoy and hope others try it and tell me what you think

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound bacon (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup green or red pepper
  • 2 tablespoons garlic (crushed)
  • 1 can pink or pinto beans (15 oz)
  • 1 can red beans (15oz )
  • 2 cans ranch style beans (this is a must!!) 15 oz ea.
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 4 ounces beef broth
  • 1 package taco season (not chili seasoning)
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder (suit to taste-mild or hot)

How To Make almost homemade chili

  • Step 1
    Brown meat until throughly cooked In separate pan, saute' onions, bell peppers, garlic in 1 tbls oil, until onions are "sweating" Cook bacon until crispy and drain- crumble and set aside
  • Step 2
    In large dutch oven on very low heat, mix all the beans (draining not necessary), stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth... Add sauted onions,peppers garlic,Taco seasoning, chili powder, stir until blended
  • Step 3
    Add meat and bacon to beans, cook and stir on low heat for 45-60 minutes to blend all the flavor. Garnish with cheddar cheese, if desired. Enjoy!
