Ingredients

  • 4 pounds chicken bones
  • 1 head of garlic broken up but unpeeled
  • 5 ribs celery rough chop
  • 2 leeks rough chop
  • 2 onions rough chop
  • 2 large carrots rough chop
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 3 sprigs rosemary
  • 5 sprigs parsley
  • 5 sprigs thyme
  • 10 pints water
  • 1/4 cup salt

How To Make the best homemade chicken stock

  • Step 1
    Place all ingredients in a large stock pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a low and let the stock simmer 4 hours. Skimming as needed. Add more water if stock gets to low or to concentrated.
  • Step 2
    Strain the stock through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth. Let cool completely. Can be frozen for up to 3 months
