There are many different versions of this recipe, this one is mine. I have people ask me for this every time I serve it, it's delicious, inexpensive and very easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon thyme, dried
  • half teaspoon rosemary, dried
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 boxes chicken broth, low salt
  • 1 can large can whole peeled tomatoes
  • 2 large bags frozen soup vegetables
  • 1 box sliced okra
  • 1 package wide noodles

How To Make hamburger soup

  • Step 1
Brown ground beef using a fork to break it up into small pieces, the smaller, the better. Drain in colander when done. Add garlic and other spices, heat through. Add 2 boxes chicken broth and 1 can whole peeled tomatoes (including juice). Use potato masher to mash the tomatoes. Bring to a boil, add 2 bags soup vegetables and okay, lower heat to simmer. Simmer until cook through, add bag of noodles last. Cook until noodles are tender, serve. Serving in bread bowls is a great way to serve this soup. My family, even my grandkids, love this soup.
  • Step 2
Vegetables are just a suggestion, you can use any vegetable you like. I love okra, the rest of my family doesn't so I just add some to my soup. Experiment with what your family likes, it's a delicious base.
