I'm originally from Massachusetts. The Venus DeMilo, in Swansea, Massachusetts, is a very popular place for weddings and banquets. Story has it that early one morning when the head chef was preparing for a wedding meal, he discovered that he'd forgotten to purchase ingredients for the soup. He threw this together, and it was a big hit! Hence the name. Please don't let the canned ingredients turn you away. Its VERY good!

Ingredients For venus demilo soup

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 can
    diced tomatoes
  • 1 can
    veg-all (mixed veggies)
  • 1 can
    corn, cream-style
  • 1 can
    red kidney beans (optional)
  • 3/4-1 c
    orzo pasta, cooked
  • 1 pkg
    lipton onion soup mix
  • 2 can
    water

How To Make venus demilo soup

    Boil pasta just until al dente. Drain, set aside.

    In Dutch Oven, brown ground beef until no longer pink. Drain off grease.

    Sprinkle onion soup mix over meat. Stir to combine.
  • 4
    Add remaining ingredients and let simmer 15-20 minutes. Season to taste.
