Ingredients For simple beef stew

  • 1-2 lb
    stew beef cubes
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 c
    canola oil
  • 3-4
    carrots, scraped and sliced
  • 6 md
    potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 md
    onions, quartered
  • 1-2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 2 box
    (32 oz.) beef broth
  • 2-3 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    kitchen bouquet browning & seasoning sauce
  • 1/4 c
    fresh, chopped parsley

How To Make simple beef stew

    In a zip lock bag, add flour. Add in stew beef to coat.

    Heat oil in the bottom of a large dutch oven.

    Add flour and coated beef and cook until browned.

    When beef is browned, pour in broth. Add carrots and onions, salt and pepper. Simmer uncovered for 1 hour.

    Add potatoes and cook for another 20-30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

    HINT: Add more flour and water in a slurry to further thicken, if needed

    Add in Tbsp. browning & seasoning sauce. Stir until incorporated.

    When stew is just right, add 1/4 cup fresh parsley. Serve with a nice salad and biscuits or bread and butter!
