My son has season tickets to the Broncos and one year, the players wives published a cook book of recipes that their husbands made all the time for a fund raiser for charity. This was the one that came from John's wife back then. I'm sure he makes this today with prime cuts of beef that are not ground. (LOL)

Ingredients
- 2 to 3 pounds ground beef (chuck, or round, or sirloin)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 medium onions chopped
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 cans beef broth
- 1 cup 18 oz rotel diced tomatos with green chiles
- 1 cup diced potatoes with skins on
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup ranch style beans
- 1 cup dry red wine
- 1 tablespoon dry parsley flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon dry basil
- - salt and pepper to taste
How To Make john elway hambuger soup

Step 1Fry the meat in a large skillet until browned and drain.

Step 2In a large pot, cook onions and garlic in butter.

Step 3Add potatoes, carrots, and celery to the onions and cook stirring for 3 minutes.

Step 4add the beef and all other ingredients to the pot and bring to a boil over medium heat.

Step 5Lower heat and simmer for 35 minutes or until vegetables are tender and serve with warm bread and butter.

Step 6I make this in the crock pot on low for 4 to 6 hours making sure vegetables are done but not mushey. I also add about 4 ozs of fresh sliced mushrooms.
