This recipe came about because I had a number of ingredients on hand with no specific plans for them, so I decided to invent something new. I also had a new slow cooker that I wanted to try out.

prep time 20 Min
cook time 4 Hr
method Slow Cooker Crock Pot
yield 6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 pounds baby Yukon potatoes, cut in half
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 or 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 or 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 package Hidden Valley ranch seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with juice

How To Make ellen's pantry stew

In a large skillet, brown the beef over medium heat, stirring frequently. Pour off the grease and add the meat to a slow cooker.

  • Step 3
In a small bowl, mix together the bouillon cubes, a small amount of hot water, the ranch dressing mix, and Worcestershire sauce. Add to the slow cooker.
  • Step 4
Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours.
  • Step 5
Add the tomatoes to the mixture and stir thoroughly.
  • Step 6
    Serve while hot and enjoy!
