Ingredients
- FOR THE BROTH
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion chopped
- 1 inch piece ginger sliced
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 8 cups beef stock
- 4 cups water
- 4 whole star anise
- 1/2 tablespoon whole cloves
- 1/4 cup fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- FOR THE PHO
- 12 ounces rice noodles
- 1 medium shallot chopped
- 5 scallions sliced on the bias
- 2 cups bean sprouts
- hand ful basil, mint and cilantro chopped
- 1 pound shaved rib eye steak
- 2 limes cut into wedges
How To Make easy beef pho

Step 1For the broth In a large pot heat the olive oil. Add the onion, ginger and cinnamon stick. Cook for about 5 minutes. Add the stock, water, star anise, cloves, fish sauce, and sugar. lower the heat and simmer for 1 hour.

Step 2Strain the broth and discard the solids. Cook the rice noodles according to package directions. Drain

Step 3Add a little oil to a pan and cook the shallots for about 3 minutes.

Step 4Divide the noodles among the bowls. Top with the shallots, raw rib eye, bean sprouts, mint, basil and cilantro. Pour the steaming hot broth over top. The broth will cook the meat. Serve immediately with lime wedges
