beefy cabbage soup

I've been making this soup for years now and somehow we never grow tired of it.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 1 large can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • - salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 package cabbage coleslaw mix
  • 1 can short green beans
  • 1 can mixed veggies
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1 can sliced potatoes

How To Make beefy cabbage soup

  • Step 1
    Brown your ground beef on medium/high heat with your onion until all pink is gone, but don't over cook. Add your can of tomato paste and your can of beef broth.
  • Step 2
    Add your can of green beans, mixed veggies, potatoes and crushed tomatoes at this point. Add your Italian seasoning, salt & pepper and your garlic powder. Now let the soup come to a boil and then add your bag of cabbage mix then turn your heat down and let it simmer for 40 minutes, then turn it off and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
    I serve this with fresh bread or cornbread and is it filling. It even tastes good when you reheat it the next day.
