    beef chuck, boneless and cut in 1" cubes

    dry bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 large
    onion, cut in eighths
  • 3
    carrots, peeled, split lengthwise, cut into 4"
  • 4
    stalks celery, cut into 1" slices
  • 1 tsp
    basil leaves
  • 1/3 c
    quick cooking tapioca
  • 1 can(s)
    mushrooms sliced, 4 ounces, undrained
  • 1 tsp
    kitchen bouquet
  • 2 can(s)
    mushrooms sliced, 4 ounces, undrained
  • 1 c
    beef broth or water

How to Make Bachelor's Stew

Step-by-Step

  1. Wipe beef cubes well.
  2. Combine bread crumbs with salt and pepper and toss with beef.
  3. Place coated beef cubes in slow cooker and add remaining ingredients; stir well.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours or on high for 3 to 5 hours.
