Split Pea & Ham Soup
1meaty ham bone or 2 ham hocks
1 pkg(16 oz.) split green peas
3carrots, peeled and sliced
1/2 conion, chopped
2ribs of celery plus leaves, chopped
1 tsplawry's season salt
1/2 tspwhite pepper
1 1/2 qthot water
How to Make Split Pea & Ham Soup
- Layer ingredients in slow cooker in the order given; pour in water. Do not stir ingredients. Cover and cook on HIGH 4 to 5 hours or on low 8 to 10 hours until peas are very soft.
- Ladle a portion of the soup into a separate bowl. Mash or blend with a stick blender until smooth. Stir back into soup to thicken.
- Cut meat from bones and add back into soup. Serve hot.
