Ingredients For portuguese bean soup

  • 1-2 oz
    ham bones
  • 1 can
    kidney beans, canned
  • 2 md
    potato
  • 3
    carrot
  • 1 lg
    onion
  • 1 can
    (16 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 can
    (16 oz.) crushed tomato canned
  • 1
    portuguese sausage or other type of sausage
  • 1 c
    elbow macaroni
  • 1 tsp
    salt or as you like
  • 1 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 md
    cabbage head

How To Make portuguese bean soup

    Boil ham bone in enough water to cover bone. Cook until tender save stock.Stock will be reduced by about half. Bring stock to a boil and add all ingredients except cabbage.

    Simmer 1-2 hours until all veggies are tender. Last half hour add cabbage and more salt and pepper if needed. Cook until cabbage is done.

    Serve over hot rice or corn bread.
