This is the original recipe from the restaurant according to the web-sight I found it on.
My husband grew up eating this soup on vacations with his parents. They served all you could eat which is handy for a vegetarian family of three healthy kids!
It is a good memory food for him. Also, very delicious!
Serve with a good crusty bread with LOTS of butter.

  • 2 qt
    soft water
  • 2 c
    green split peas
  • 1 stick
    celery chopped
  • 1 large
    carrot, chopped
  • 1 small
    small onion, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 pinch
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • ·
    salt & pepper

How to Make Original Recipe for 8 bowls of Andersen’s Famous S


  1. Boil hard for 20 minutes, then slowly until peas are tender
  2. Strain through fine sieve and reheat to boiling point.
