1/2 lb
bacon, chopped
1 lb
smoked sausage, sliced thin & cut in half
1 large
onion, chopped
1 large
bell pepper, chopped
3 c
3 can(s)
16-oz. each butter beans, drain and rinse
1 can(s)
15-oz. diced tomatoes with juice
1 can(s)
12-oz. tomato paste
1 pkg
16-oz. okra, frozen sliced
salt and pepper to taste


1In large pan, over medium heat cook bacon and sausage until bacon is crisp. Remove meat from pan and drain on paper towels. Discard all but 2 tablespoons of the drippings. Cook onion and green pepper in drippings until tender. Add water, beans, tomatoes, tomato paste, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered 10 minutes. Add meat and cook 10 minutes longer. Add okra; cover and cook 10 minutes longer or until okra is tender.
2Serve with white rice or corn bread.
