- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 12 ounces bacon, fried and cut into pieces
- 1 can rotel
- 1 - serrano pepper, seeded and chopped
- 1 - onion, chopped
- 1 bunch of cilantro, chopped
- 3 quarts chicken or beef broth, or water
How To Make frijole's a la charra
-
Step 1Clean and rinse beans. You can also soak them overnight in clean water. Cook beans alone in broth or water for at least an hour.
-
Step 2Add all other ingredients and stir well.
-
Step 3Cook beans for at least another hour. I like to cook them on medium for an hour, then drop it down to low and and simmer for another hour or so, but isn't necessary. You can also put them in the crock pot for the day if you want.
