1Clean and rinse beans. You can also soak them overnight in clean water. Cook beans alone in broth or water for at least an hour.
2Add all other ingredients and stir well.
3Cook beans for at least another hour. I like to cook them on medium for an hour, then drop it down to low and and simmer for another hour or so, but isn't necessary. You can also put them in the crock pot for the day if you want.
