A friend (and former co-worker) gave me this recipe years ago. I love bean soup, but I was having trouble finding a recipe that didn't upset my stomach. I don't know what the magic is in this recipe, but it's one of my favorites!

Ingredients For bean soup

  • 1 lb
    dried great northern beans
  • 2 c
    ham, chunked
  • 1
    ham bone
  • 3
    carrots, sliced
  • 2
    stalks of celery, sliced
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1
    bay leaf

How To Make bean soup

  • 1
    Soak beans overnight.
  • 2
    Drain beans. Combine all ingredients with 6 - 8 cups of water. Simmer till beans are soft.
