Homemade Flour Tortillas

Leanne D.

I made flour tortillas a long time ago and from then on,I stopped buying them. I roll the tortillas very thin, just like I like them. The store bought ones are so thick and heavy. I hope you will enjoy them.
My tortillas are not perfectly round but that's ok,they taste good!

How to Make Homemade Flour Tortillas

  1. Combine flour, salt and baking powder. Add shortening and break into small pieces like crumbs. Add warm water, stir to combine well.Knead into a ball;cover, let sit 10-15 mins. Cut into 8 equal pieces. Sprinkle flour onto a board, roll out each piece as thin as possible into a circle(my tortillas are not perfectly shaped but that's ok,you can place a plate on top and cut into a perfect circle if you want).Heat a skillet or griddle until hot, cook tortillas 30 sec-1 min. turn over, cook another 30 secs.
