I made flour tortillas a long time ago and from then on,I stopped buying them. I roll the tortillas very thin, just like I like them. The store bought ones are so thick and heavy. I hope you will enjoy them. My tortillas are not perfectly round but that's ok,they taste good!

How To Make homemade flour tortillas

  • Step 1
Combine flour, salt and baking powder. Add shortening and break into small pieces like crumbs. Add warm water, stir to combine well.Knead into a ball;cover, let sit 10-15 mins. Cut into 8 equal pieces. Sprinkle flour onto a board, roll out each piece as thin as possible into a circle(my tortillas are not perfectly shaped but that's ok,you can place a plate on top and cut into a perfect circle if you want).Heat a skillet or griddle until hot, cook tortillas 30 sec-1 min. turn over, cook another 30 secs. Tortillas will puff up,place each tortilla in a towel, keeping them soft and warm. Delicious when hot with butter.
