I went to a craft party, this mix was served, it was a big hit.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (3.3.5 oz.) microwave popcorn 5 cups popped
  • 3 cups miniature pretzel twists
  • 2 cups peanuts, dry roasted salted
  • 2 cups oven-toasted rice cereal squares
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup corn syrup, light
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • - large package m & m's peanut or plain

How To Make sweet & salty party mix

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Prepare popcorn according to package directions.
  • Step 3
    In 6 quart mixing bowl, combine popcorn, pretzels, nuts, M & M's and cereal; set aside.
  • Step 4
    Combine butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in 2 quart saucepan, cook and stir with a Bamboo spoon over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil; continue to cook without stirring 3 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Remove from heat; carefully stir in baking soda.
  • Step 6
    Pour Caramel Sauce over popcorn mixture; stir until evenly coated.
  • Step 7
    Spoon onto large pan with sides.
  • Step 8
    Bake 30 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Step 9
    Remove from the oven.
  • Step 10
    Transfer popcorn mixture to large pieces of parchment paper.
  • Step 11
    Cool completely breaking mixture into clusters as it cools.
  • Step 12
    Pour into large round bowl.
  • Step 13
    Yield: 12 cups
  • Step 14
    This recipe can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
  • Step 15
    Pecans, walnuts or Macadamia nuts can be substituted for peanuts if desired.
