carmel corn

This is a very old recipe , it came from my Great Grandma Roupe. An EXCELLENT sauce for carmel corn. *This is a borrowed net picture*

yield 2-1 /2 to 3 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1/2 cup white karo syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 8 quarts popped hull-less super popcorn

How To Make carmel corn

  • Step 1
    Bring to boil on LOW heat : brown sugar , margarine and Karo syrup. Bring to boil for 5 minutes , stirring constantly
  • Step 2
    Remove from heat and add the vanilla and soda ; STIR WELL.
  • Step 3
    Coat a large bowl of popped popcorn ( or more if desired )
  • Step 4
    Place in a 2" deep sheet ( I use a aluminum turkey pan ).
  • Step 5
    Bake @ 250° for 1 hour ; stirring every 15 minutes.
