(1 RATING)
I found this recipe many years ago in a Ronald McDonald House cookbook. It is one of my most requested snacks when entertaining. I hope y'all enjoy it as much as we do.

Makes 4 gallons
Ingredients
- 1 (18 oz) box corn chex
- 1 (18 oz) box wheat chex
- 1 (18 oz) box rice chex
- 1 (16 oz) package pretzels (tiny twists)
- 1 pound pecans, halved
- 1 pound whole cashews
- 1 pound salted butter (not margarine)
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons worcestshire sauce
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- 2 ounces accent
- 4 tablespoons allspice
- 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
- 3 tablespoons garlic powder
How To Make texas trash
-
Step 1Mix the corn chex, rice chex, wheat chex, pretzels, pecans, and cashews in a large plastic bag. Divide mixture into two 1 gallon roaster pans and set aside.
-
Step 2In a large saucepan, over medium heat, combine the butter, oil, worcestershire sauce, celery salt, accent, allspice, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Stir well. This does not need to come to a boil. Just stir and heat.
-
Step 3Add the seasoning mixture to the dry mixture and blend very well. Cook at 200 degrees for 3 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. This yields 4 gallons.
-
Step 4NOTE: I found that using a Nesco or other electric roaster pan works just as well. I mix all the dry ingredients in that and then stir in the wet mixture.
