Blue Ribbon Recipe
This makes a great after school snack! Make sure to keep it out of sight, or you may have little hands sneaking a handful or two. It's sweet, salty and has a great crunch. The Test Kitchen
3/4 cbrown sugar, firmly packed
6 Tbspmargarine or butter (do not use spread or tub products)
3 Tbspcorn syrup, light
1/4 tspbaking soda
4 ccorn chex
4 crice chex
1/4 csemi-sweet chocolate chips
How to Make SCHOOL FUEL
- Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper. Microwave brown sugar, margarine and corn syrup until margarine is melted.
- Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Stir in cereals, microwave on high for 3 minutes, stirring every minute. Spread on cookie sheet.
- Cool 10 minutes, then break into bite size pieces. Microwave chocolate chips in small microwavable bowl on high until chocolate can be stirred smooth.
- Drizzle chocolate over snack, refrigerate until chocolate is set. Store in airtight container.
