I know everyone has this recipe but I am posting it to put in a cookbook I am making of my Mom's recipes. I believe this is the original recipe from the back of Chex Cereal back in the 1960's. But it is hard to tell from Mom's recipes. She added and changed things over the years. But this is the version of the recipe she used.

prep time 20 Min
cook time 1 Hr
method ---
yield 8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups corn chex
  • 3 cups rice chex
  • 3 cups wheat chex
  • 2 cups mixed nuts
  • 1 cup small stick pretzels
  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

How To Make original chex mix

  • Step 1
Heat oven to 250 degrees. In large bowl, mix cereals, nuts, and pretzels. Set aside. In ungreased large roasting pan, melt butter in oven. Stir in seasonings. Gradually stir in cereal mixture until evenly coated.
  • Step 2
Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool, about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.
