So, my husband's dad makes these, and they can't cook fast enough to keep up with the eaters.

Husband eats these as a snack, like popcorn, and not so much as a side dish.

flour
2
eggs
3/4 c
milk
fresh chives
butter
salt

How to Make Knecht Flakes (aka a type of Spaetzle)

Step-by-Step

  • 1Combine flour, eggs and milk to make a dough. Scoop dough up into a spoon and using a butter knife cut small pieces of the dough off into boiling water.
  • 2Let dough boil until it floats to the top. Remove from water and drop directly into hot skillet that has melted butter in it.
  • 3Fry dough until light brown. Remove to plate covered with a paper towel. Sprinkle with salt and diced chives. Serve hot.
