These sandwiches are great when you're entertaining a crowd. They can be made ahead and just pop them in the oven before you're ready to serve.

I love a great hero, and this did not disappoint. I like how this sandwich is heated, so the cheese gets nice and toasty. These would be great if you're having a crowd over. Ingredients

  • 1
    loaf of french or italian bread.
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/4 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 1/4 lb
    thin sliced smoked ham
  • 1/4 lb
    thin sliced hard salami
  • 1/4 lb
    thin sliced pepperoni from the deli
  • 4-5 slice
    swiss cheese
  • 1 small
    tomato thinly sliced
  • 2
    slices of sweet onion, rings seperated
  • ·
    shredded lettuce
  • ·
    salt and pepper
  • 1 small
    bottled italian dressing

How to Make Hot Hero Sandwiches

Step-by-Step

  1. Cut loaf in half lengthwise. Spread butter on cut sides and sprinkle with oregano.
  2. On bottom half, layer ham, salami, pepperoni, cheese, tomato, onion and lettuce. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste and drizzle with Italian dressing. Top with upper half of loaf.
  3. Wrap tightly in aluminum foil and warm in a 300 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes to combine flavors. Remove from oven and cut into serving size peices. May be rewarmed in microwave oven.
