My husband wants me to make them for him all the time. I did use turkey franks one time to make them a little more healthy.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 - salt
  • 2 - vegetable oil
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 package hot dogs
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour in separate shallow bowl

How To Make homemade corn dogs

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in deep fryer to 375 degrees
  • Step 2
    In mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, And salt.
  • Step 3
    In small bowl, mix eggs, milk and oil.
  • Step 4
    Add wet ingredients to dry; mix well.
  • Step 5
    Roll hotdog in flour in shallow bowl.
  • Step 6
    Coat hotdogs with batter and drop in hot oil. (If batter becomes too thick, add 1-2 T. of milk)
  • Step 7
    Arrange 3 at a time in oil; turn halfway thru cooking time until evenly browned. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
