My husband wants me to make them for him all the time. I did use turkey franks one time to make them a little more healthy.

  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 c
    yellow cornmeal
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1
  • 2
    vegetable oil
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 3/4 c
  • 1 pkg
    hot dogs
  • 3/4 c
    all-purpose flour in separate shallow bowl

How to Make Homemade Corn Dogs


  1. Heat oil in deep fryer to 375 degrees
  2. In mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, And salt.
  3. In small bowl, mix eggs, milk and oil.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry; mix well.
  5. Roll hotdog in flour in shallow bowl.
  6. Coat hotdogs with batter and drop in hot oil. (If batter becomes too thick, add 1-2 T. of milk)
  7. Arrange 3 at a time in oil; turn halfway thru cooking time until evenly browned. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
