I bought in on a produce co-op (Bountiful Baskets) and we got 2 jicamas. I've never had them before and didn't know what to do with them so I found a few recipes. One was for oven fries with the jicama. I made that yesterday with lunch and hubby asked for it again today to go with hot dogs on the grill. As I was getting things ready, he suggested cooking the fries on the grill. WOW! They were AWESOME!! So here's Glenn's great jicama fry recipe for the grill.

Ingredients

  • AMOUNTS OF INGREDIENTS ONLY DEPENDS ON NUMBER OF PEOPLE YOU ARE SERVING.

  • ·
    jicama
  • ·
    olive oil
  • ·
    parmesan cheese
  • ·
    cajun seasoning (or any seasoning you like)

How to Make Grilled Jicama Fries

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat
  2. slice jicama into 1/2 inch thick fries/sticks and place in bowl
  3. Pour small amount of olive oil, a small handful of parmesan and your seasonings into bowl. Toss to coat jicama.
  4. Place jicama on the grill and cook for 7-10 min until it begins to brown. Turn fries and let them cook another 7-10 minutes.
  5. Good dipped in your favorite condiment (ketchup, bbq sauce, spicy bbq, etc) or eaten plain
