Ingredients
- 4 cups old fashioned oats (not quick oats)
- 1 cup sweetened coconut
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1-2 dash nutmeg
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup (not sugary breakfast syrup)
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup dried cherries (or dried blueberries)
How To Make easy granola
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
-
Step 2In a large bowl, add oats, coconut, sunflower seeds, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg. Then mix until well combined.
-
Step 3In a different microwave-safe bowl (or on the stovetop), combine the maple syrup, butter, and brown sugar. Microwave until melted and smooth. Once melted, add the vanilla and stir to combine.
-
Step 4Add the butter mixture to the oat mixture and stir to coat the oats well.
-
Step 5Spread the granola on a cooking oil-sprayed cookie sheet and bake 35-40 minutes; stirring a few times to make sure all parts get browned. It's done when the granola is all evenly browned.
-
Step 6After removing the cookie sheet from the oven, you can stir in the dried cherries (or blueberries). Let cool. Store in an airtight container.
