In a lasrge, shallow roasting pan, combine cereal and nuts. Place in a 250 degree oven while making glaze. In a 2 quart saucepan, heat brown sugar, syrup, butter and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil 5 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla and baking soda. Pour over warm cereal-nut mixture and stir to coat. Continue to bake for approximately 1 hour, stirring every 10 to 15 minutes. Cool and break apart. Store in an airtight container. The mix freeze well in zip-lock bags. Hide the bags, because this goes quickly !
