Ingredients

  • 1 bottle
    brown ale
  • 2 Tbsp
    unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 c
    dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    dark corn syrup
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 c
    salted thin pretzels

How to Make Beer Pretzel Caramel Squares

Step-by-Step

  1. Pour beer into a glass, let go flat for 1 hour.
  2. Butter 8 inch baking dish. Bring half the beer to a boil and reduce 10 minutes.
  3. Combine remaining beer, brown sugar, corn syrup, cream and butter; bring to a boil until a candy thermometer reads 235 F. Remove from heat and stir in reduced beer and roughly chopped pretzels. Spread in dish and chill until firm. Cut into squares.
