tana's fall snack mix

My 17 year old Grandaughter needed a snack for school. I had been wanting to make some snackmix for fall. So I put this togather with what I had on hand, and parts of 2 different reciepes. The next day I recieve a call from the High School.With this Grandaughter, a call from school is never good. The lady on the line said " Your Grandaughter brought some snack mix to school and we love it, we want the reciepe!" It is good!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cheerios
  • 2 cups dry roasted peanuts
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 1/2 cups candy corn
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange food coloring (opional) i used wiltons.

How To Make tana's fall snack mix

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl mix the cheerios,peanuts,raisins and candy corn. Mix together.
  • Step 2
    In a heavy sauce pan, mix sugar, cinnamon,brown sugar and sour cream. Stir while bringing to a boil. Boil intill reachs hard ball stirring all the while. When at hard ball on candy thermometer,remove from heat.Pour over cheerios,Stir to mix well, and get all coated. Spread out on a large cookie sheet to cool. When cool break into small pieces. Store in air tight container.
