I've made these for a variety of parties and they always go over well. Warning ... there is a slight delay in the heat, so it surprises people. Switch the nuts to your favorite kind. Sometimes nuts stay sticky, but they are always delicious ... Enjoy!

1/2 tsp
1/4 tsp
ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp
ground cumin
1/4 tsp
cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp
chili powder
1/4 tsp
chipotle chili powder
1/8 tsp
ground nutmeg
3 Tbsp
unsalted butter
1 c
whole almonds
1 c
pecan halves
1/4 c
packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp
1 1/2 tsp
worcestershire sauce
louisiana-style hot sauce (if desired)

How to Make Sweet & Spicy Nuts


  • 1In a small bowl, combine salt and spices, then set aside.
  • 2In a large frying pan, melt butter. Add nuts; cook over medium heat until nuts are toasted (about 4-5 minutes)
  • 3Sprinkle nuts with spice mixture. Add brown sugar, water and worcestershire sauce and hot sauce (if desired).
  • 4Stir over heat for 1-2 minutes or until sugar is completely melted. Spread nuts on foil to cool. Store in an airtight container.
