I got this recipe from a friend a few years ago after trying her batch. If you love the combination of sweet, salty and spicy blended together along with nuts, you will love this! I tweaked hers just a bit by adding 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper and an extra tablespoon of sugar but here is her original version. Enjoy!

prep time 5 Min
cook time 20 Min
method Bake
yield 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed nuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon salt ( i use kosher or sea salt for more flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

How To Make sweet & spicy glazed nuts

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter cookie sheet. (I cover my cookie sheet with foil and then butter that). Set aside.
  • Step 2
Combine everything but the nuts in medium saucepan. Bring to boil and boil 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add nuts. Stir to coat well.
  • Step 3
Bake on your buttered cookie sheet for 15 minutes. Pull from oven and toss lightly to coat more and bake 5 more minutes. Transfer to parchment paper or other cookie sheet that has been sprayed with Pam for easy removal. Allow to cool before separating. I also spray my spoon with Pam to prevent the syrup and the nuts from sticking to it. Store in airtight container. Double or triple the batch if you want to give some away to family or friends.
