Ingredients For sweet and spicy nuts

  • 1 1/2 c
    dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 2
    large egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp
    curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 12 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 2 c
    walnut halves
  • 2 c
    roasted, salted almonds
  • 2 c
    roasted, salted cashews

How To Make sweet and spicy nuts

    Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Center rack in oven. Spray baking sheet liberally with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.

    In a large bowl, whisk egg whites until frothy. Add nuts and stir until coated.

    In a small bowl, mix together dark brown sugar, granulated sugar, curry powder, cinnamon and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle sugar mixture over nuts and toss until coated.

    Arrange nuts in a single layer on prepared cooking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden and fragrant.

    Allow to cool for 1 hour. Using a metal spatula, remove the nuts from cookie sheet and break into bite-sized pieces.
