With pecans being so plentiful in South Lousiana, good cooks find all kinds of ways to use them. Sugared pecans with different flavors are a tasty way to utilize this plentiful crop.

How to Make Orange Pecans


  1. Squeeze orange and reserve juice in a heavy sauce pan. Grate rind and add to juice.
  2. Add sugar and bring to a rolling boil.
  3. Add nuts gradually, stirring contantly until sugar is absorbed.
  4. Remove from heat and continues to stir until nuts separate. Turn out onto waxed paper to dry.
