homemade cheez-its
These are one of my favorite go to snacks. They are great for kids who want a quick snack after a day of swimming, or wanting on a hot dog at a cookout. Either way they will truly be a favorite. If you love tomato soup these are great as a topping.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons butter, unsalted, cut into small pieces
- 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard, ground (optional)
- 2 tablespoons water
How To Make homemade cheez-its
-
Step 1In a food processor, pulse everything except water together until it looks like course crumbs
-
Step 2While pulsing, add in water, 1 tablespoon at a time
-
Step 3Remove from food processor, wrap in plastic wrap and put in refrigerator for at least 20 minutes
-
Step 4Meanwhile preheat oven 350 degrees
-
Step 5Roll out dough (quite thin) and cut into squares. Use a toothpick or the end of scissors to poke a hole in center of each cracker
-
Step 6Place crackers on lined baking sheet (Silpat and parachement paper - both are fine). Can place fairly close together, as they do not really expand. Bake for 13 - 15 minutes or until crispy
