I made these for my kids when they were small, and when they were a little older we made them together. It was always fun times, and they're really very good.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    all purpose or unbleached flour
  • 1 3/4 c
    whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 c
    sugar or splenda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 stick
    cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 2 Tbsp
    honey
  • 2 Tbsp
    molasses
  • 1/4 c
    cold water
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How to Make Graham Crackers

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add the honey, molasses, water and vanilla.
  2. Mix until dough holds together, then knead in the bowl until well mixed and smooth.
  3. Roll out between two sheets of wax paper to 1/8" thick. Chill for at least an hour. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut into 2" by 2" squares. Using a fork or toothpick, prick holes in each cracker. Place on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake in 350 degree F preheated oven about 15 minutes, until edges are lightly browned. Let cool on pan.
