I made these for my kids when they were small, and when they were a little older we made them together. It was always fun times, and they're really very good.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all purpose or unbleached flour
  • 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar or splenda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 stick cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make graham crackers

  • Step 1
    Mix together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add the honey, molasses, water and vanilla.
  • Step 2
    Mix until dough holds together, then knead in the bowl until well mixed and smooth.
  • Step 3
    Roll out between two sheets of wax paper to 1/8" thick. Chill for at least an hour. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut into 2" by 2" squares. Using a fork or toothpick, prick holes in each cracker. Place on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper.
  • Step 4
    Bake in 350 degree F preheated oven about 15 minutes, until edges are lightly browned. Let cool on pan.
