This was the very first thing I learned to cook in Home Economics in 1974. I don't remember where or how I got the recipe but have remembered it all these years. I made these for my parents, then for my family and now for my grandchildren. They call them "Cathy's Crackers"

prep time 10 Min
cook time 5 Min
method Broil
yield 6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon grated onion with juice
  • 1-2 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • - cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 - sleeve saltine crackers

How To Make cheese cracker snacks

  • Step 1
Mix cheese, onion, Worcestershire sauce, and Cayenne well. Line 10 by 15 inch baking sheet with saltine crackers. Mound a tablespoon of the cheese mixture on each cracker. Place under the broiler for 2-5 minutes until cheese is melted.
  • Step 2
Notes: This recipe was from before pre-shredded cheese or food processors. The pre-shredded cheese has a non-clumping additive which makes the cheese not hold together well so it is best to grate your own which is a breeze in today’s food processors. You can mix it in the food processor and its a breeze.
