Smoky Chorizo Tacos

"It's just five ingredients!..."

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 tbsp. olive oil, divided
1 lb. fresh Mexican chorizo, casings discard, crumbled into small pieces
1 1/4 lb. russet potatoes (2 medium), cut into 1/4-in. pieces 
1/2  large white onion, finely chopped and divided 
8 small corn tortillas, warmed
1/2 c. salsa verde, for serving
