INGREDIENTS

6-8 medium-sized apples (I used a combination of granny smith and red delicious)

1/2 cup butter
•
1/2 brown sugar
•
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
•
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
•
⅛ tsp salt
•
1 tsp. orange zest
•
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
•
4-quart or larger (I prefer to use an oval slow cooker for this, but a round one will do fine)
