INGREDIENTS
1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeast
1 3/4 cups warm water (110 degrees F.)
1 tablespoon neutral oil like vegetable or canola
2 teaspoons sugar
6 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
Egg Wash:
1 large beaten egg yolk
1 tablespoon water
Potato-Cheese Filling:
6 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
3/4 cup grated yellow cheese of choice (Gouda, Cheddar, etc.)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Sauerkraut Filling:
1 large onion, chopped
3 tablespoons butter
2 cups rinsed and drained sauerkraut
1 large apple, chopped
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Garnish: (optional)
