½ shallot (finely chopped)
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon brown sugar (optional)
½ teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper
¾ cup olive oil
chopped fresh herbs (basil, parsley, tarragon, chives)
