High in all kinds of good things... yet Mom still had to convince us kids to try them ... Moms rule was, " you have to try one bite before you can say you do not like something." In most cases we'd eat!

Ingredients

  • 5 pounds fresh picked turnip greens
  • 5 pounds mustard greens
  • 6 ounces country meat or ham hock
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • - salt and pepper, to taste

How To Make turnip greens and then some...

  • Step 1
    De-stem and wash turnip greens and mustard greens.
  • Step 2
    Wash in sink full of cold water 3 times to remove sand and grit.
  • Step 3
    Put in large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to boil.
  • Step 4
    Salt and pepper to taste, sugar and add country meat or ham hock.
  • Step 5
    Cook 3 to 4 hours on low boil or until tender.
  • Step 6
    Check water and stir with wooden spoon every 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Drain and cut into small pieces. Serves 4 to 6.
