Ingredients
- 2 large purple onions
- 1/4 cup plus 2tea.butter
- 1 [6oz] package croutons, plain
- 6 large tomatoes,sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 3 cups monterey jack cheese
How To Make tomato-cheese casserole

Step 1In a large skillet,saute'onions in butter for 5 minutes.

Step 2Add croutons and saute 3 minutes

Step 3Place tomato slices in a bowl.Sprinkle with salt,pepper and basil;toss gently.

Step 4Spoon half of reserved onion mixture into greased 13 by 9inch baking dish.Arrange half of tomato slices over onion mixture;sprinkle with half of cheese.

Step 5Repeat layers.

Step 6Bake, uncovered,at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes until hot and bubbly.
