Oh my gosh this recipe is to die for, my father past this last November and our niece Karen made this for the family. It will be one of our favorite's. Family and our friends like it very much.

Ingredients

  • 6 large tomato
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup green onion chopped and divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 12 ounces bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/3 cup fresh basil chopped
  • 1 - 9 inch baked pie shell

How To Make tomato & bacon pie

  • Step 1
    Drain tomato slices on paper towel about 10 minutes, sprinkle with garlic salt.
  • Step 2
    Meanwhile heat oven to 375*F. Combine cheese, mayonnaise, 1/4 cup of green onions and pepper in medium bowl.
  • Step 3
    Layer half the tomatoes, bacon, basil and remaining 1/4 cup green onions in pie crust. Top with remaining tomatoes. Spread mayonnaise mixture over top. Bake 30 minutes or until golden brown, (cover edge of crust with foil if browning too quickly).
  • Step 4
    TIP* To peel tomatoes, cut small "X" in the bottom of each tomato. Place in a large pot of boiling water 30 to 60 seconds or until skins become loose, place in a large bowl of ice water. Skins should slip off with help o paring knife.
