I came up with this when I wanted something else to do with fresh green beans. I started with garlic butter ones, but wanted to tie the bacon with another side into the whole meal.

prep time 20 Min
cook time 30 Min
method Stove Top
yield 8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 24 ounces fresh green beans
  • 1 pound bacon; your choice of brand
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • - salt, to taste

How To Make tawnya's garlic butter and bacon green beans

  • Step 1
Clean the green beans by snapping off the ends and breaking them in half if you want.
  • Step 2
While doing this, dice and cook bacon in a large skillet. Once the bacon is crisp, remove it and place it on paper towels. Drain the pan, leaving approximately 2 Tbsp of bacon fat in the pan.
  • Step 3
Boil water in a large pot. When the water is at a rolling boil, add green beans. Cook green beans in water for approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on how crisp you want the green beans. Drain and set aside.
  • Step 4
Melt the butter in the pan with the bacon fat.
  • Step 5
Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Step 6
Add green beans to butter and garlic. Toss until they are coated with the garlic butter.
  • Step 7
Toss in the cooked bacon and add pepper. Salt to taste.
