sweet and sour green beans

This is a family Favorite recipe , I usually make these as requested for our family meals and Holidays, I think they are good anytime, I make them just for Hubby and me too. The Recipe is From Christy Jordans Southern Plate Recipes.

Ingredients

  • 7 slices bacon
  • 1 small onion ( chopped )
  • 32 ounces pkg. frozen green beas ( thawed ) or you can use canned or fresh
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt to start or to your taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper to start or to your taste

How To Make sweet and sour green beans

  • Step 1
    Cut Bacon into 1 inch segments with kitchen shears, add bacon and chopped onion in a skillet and place over medium Heat, cook untill Bacon is Browned , Keep Grease in the skillet and remove Bacon and onions with a slotted spoon to a plate and Set Aside - Add the Green Beans to the skillet with the Bacon Grease , cooking Beans to your desired tenderness , In a small bowl stir the sugar and vinegar togeather and then stir into the beans mixing in well, add the bacon and onions back into the Beans, Turn heat to a simmer and cook a few minutes for the flavors to meld, Add your salt and pepper to taste. Best served Warm.
